Computer Hardware

As the name implies hardware is a computer device that we can see with the eye (tangible). based on its function this hardware is categorized into 3 types, i.e. input devices, processing devices, and output devices. can you mention computer equipment which includes hardware? computer hardware are computer equipment that can be seen and touched. The four main components of a computer system are input devices, processing devices, storange devices, and output devices. Input and output devices are grouped into one section called the pheripheral located outside the computer case The processing devices and storage devices are grouped as computers and are usually located inside the main computer case.

1. input device

What do you use to enter data or writing into your computer ? Your form will use a keyboard instead? The keyboard is an input device. Input devices function as media input data outside the system into memory and processor to be processed and produce the required information. The following are tools that are included in the computer input tool have you ever heard of the term peripheral? This term is often heard in the discussion of computer hardware peripheral is a term that is often used to refer to additional devices on a computer. in simple peripherals, there are hardware devices that can be added to a PC to increase the ability of a computer system. This additional tool is used in several types of computer hardware, namely in the input device (input device), data storage device (memory), data processing device (processor), and output device (output device). What input devices are frequently used?

Consider the following discussion.

a. Input Devices

input device or input device functions to enter data, whether in the form of text, photos or images into a computer. Examples of input devices such as keyboards joystick mice , scanners, and so on.

1) Keyboard

The keyboard is a tool for entering data and commands to the CPU, usually in the form of a series of letters, numbers and other function keys. The keyboard comes from English which means keyboard. The keyboard consists of square buttons with letters, numbers, or symbols located on it. The keyboard is usually divided into three parts, namely function keys, type writer (letter keys , numbers, punctuation marks ) and numeric keypad (number keys and punctuation that function as calculators), and control keys (these keys provide control over cursor and screen). In some operating systems, if two buttons are pressed simultaneously, special functions or shortcuts will appear.

Currently many innovations have been made in designing the shape of the keyboard , of course without reducing the main function of the keyboard. Like the poldable type keyboard. This type of keyboard is made of soft plastic which can be rolled and folded so that it can be carried anywhere. This type of keyboard is also more waterproof than an ordinary keyboard.

Do you know the function of each key on the keyboard? The following will explain some functions of the keys on the keyboard.

The ALT key works if the user is paired with another button. For example with the F4 key which is useful for ShutDown or close Windows programs that are currently active.

The CTRL key will function if its use is paired with other keys. For example , the C key or also called CTRL + C will be useful for copying a designated object into the keyboard, which can later be copied in the specified work area using CTRL + V.

keys F1-F12 function keys pemaanfatannya is adapted to the operating system or applications. For example, F1 is usually used to display the help menu which will provide an explanation of the currently running application.

ESC (Escape) button is a button used to cancel or exit a command or menu.

Enter button is the key that is the same as the choice of the OK button, which is to declare that the operation performed is correct and complete. Enter can also mean to insert blank lines or new lines in a word processing program.

In the dialog window, pressing the TAB key means moving to the next field or field or selection. During the typing process, TAB means jump to the nearest tab-stop.

The direction / cursor keys move the character pointer (cursor) in the direction of the arrow in question.

Useful during the typing process. Pressing the backspace key will cause the character ( letter) left of the cursor to be deleted.

Useful during the typing process. Pressing the delete key will cause the character (letter ) to the right or the place where the cursor is to be erased.

Useful during the typing process. Pressing the Home button will lead to the start of the line where the cursor is.

Pressing the End button will cause the cursor to move to the end of the line where the cursor is.

Useful during the typing process. Pressing the Page Up button will cause the cursor to move up as far as one screen from the cursor is located.

Useful during the typing process. pressing the Page Down button will cause the cursor to move as far as one screen from the cursor is located.

2) Light pen

Light pen is a pen-shaped instrument that serves as an input to the computer by way of touching the screen. This technology is more thorough than the touch screen. With this tool the computer operator can select items or choose commands on the screen (such as clicking on a mouse) by pinching the sides of the light pen or by pressing on the screen.

3) Touch screen

The touch screen is a monitor screen that is designed or modified to recognize touches on the surface. By touching the screen, the user can choose the operation or move the cursor. The touch screen is not suitable when used on a personal computer (personal computer) because the user must raise his hand frequently to touch the monitor.

4) Mouse

Mouse is a pointing device used to adjust the position of the cursor on the screen. If the mouse is moved in a flat plane, the cursor on the screen will shift in accordance with the direction of the mouse shift. In a data processing program, the mouse is used to place insertion points quickly on text. Mouse is also used to select icons in carrying out commands. The mouse works by capturing motion using a ball that touches a hard and flat surface. The more modern mouse doesn't use the ball anymore, but uses optical signals to detect movement. In addition, some are already using wireless technology , both based on radio, infrared light, and Bluetooth.

Currently, the latest technology has allowed the mouse to use a laser system so that the resolution reaches 2,000 dots per inch ( dots press inches), some can even reach 4,800 dots per inch. Usually, this kind of mouse is intended for video game fans

5) Joystick

Joystick is a computer input device that is a lever. This tool can move in all directions. This tool can also transmit two or three dimensional directions to a computer. In general, the joystick is used as a complement to play video games with more than one button. Actually this tool can be replaced with a mouse or keyboard. The joystick functions to direct or adjust the movement of the cursor on the computer screen. Joysticks are usually used for game programs (games).

However, using a joystick in a simulation game will feel more exciting and fun because it will lure you to come on the move. In addition to controlling video games, many joysticks are also implemented on other machines, such as motorized wheelchairs and trucks.

6) Scanner

Scanner is a tool to help to enter data such as gambarantau chart and convert it into digital form so that it can be processed and combined to form data in the form of text. The way it works is by placing an object on the scanner glass. The scanner will electronically feel the input to be read. The scanner uses an optical data reader as a reader that is able to directly read data from plain paper in the form of graphics, images, and writing. The scanner functions like a photocopier. You can see the results of the photocopier on paper while the scanner results are displayed on the monitor screen first , then only can be changed and modified so the results are good. Furthermore, these results can be saved as text files , documents , and images. Data that has been retrieved with the scanner can be entered directly into all computer applications that recognize ASCII text. The scanner is also known as the scanner.

7) digital cameras AND camcorders

nowadays the development of digital cameras is very advanced. Almost everyone uses a digital camera because it is practical and can load hundreds of photos. Digital cameras can also record films of short duration. You can put photos and movies from a digital camera into a computer for printing or processing. To record movies for a long time, you can use Handycam. Recordings from the Handycam can be transferred into VCD / DVD format with the help of a computer.

8) digitalizer graphics tablets

Digitalizer Graphics Tablets are used to draw graphics electronically. This tool is commonly used by designers to require electronic images quickly and accurately.
